Abstract

The current study entitled: The role of social support in accepting diabetes in adolescents, aimed to achieve the following goals: • Identifying the role of social support in accepting diabetes in adolescents. • Identifying the level of social support for adolescents with diabetes. • Identifying the level of acceptance of diabetes in adolescents • Identifying the differences in the two variables of the study that are attributed to the following variables: (gender, educational level and duration of injury). • The study was conducted on a sample of (150) male and female adolescents with diabetes, who were chosen intentionally. To test the study hypotheses, the following tools were applied: "Social Support Scale" "Diabetes Acceptance Scale" prepared by the researcher, whose psychometric properties were verified The researcher used the descriptive approach, and the researcher used the statistical treatment using the statistical program (spss20), where he used statistical methods, including: arithmetic averages, standard deviations, (t.test) and (anova test) in addition to simple regression. The study resulted in the following results: • The level of social support for adolescents is average. • The level of acceptance of diabetes in adolescents is average • There are no differences in social support due to the variables of gender and educational level of the adolescent. • There are differences in social support due to the variable duration of injury in the adolescent. • There are no differences in the acceptance of diabetes mellitus due to the gender variable among adolescents. • There are differences in the acceptance of diabetes mellitus due to the variables of educational level and duration of infection in the adolescent. • There is a role for social support in accepting diabetes in adolescents.
