Abstract

In the past few years, scholars have paid increasing attention to the role of knowledge in gaining competitive advantage. Nowadays, most companies are increasingly encouraged to manage their intellectual capital, if they intend to survive and compete in what we now call the "knowledge economy”. However, until now some organizations are still struggling to find the right approach that will allow them to fully benefit from their knowledge. Previous studies have shown the failure of knowledge management initiatives that depend on the technological aspects only, this study sought to explore the role of organizational culture in successful implementation of knowledge management in the context of some Algerian public banks. The results showed that there is a significant and positive relationship between culture in the banks and the success of knowledge management processes, and also showed that the most important factor is (the administrative practices. In addition to that, the Culture of Knowledge Management is still absent in the Algerian public banks, for this purpose we have made some recommendations, particularly the need for change towards a culture of knowledge management.
