Abstract
In Algeria, the current challenge facing the building industry is to ensure a favorable thermal environment while minimizing energy consumption. This is due to the widespread use of a construction system that results in energy-intensive buildings sector. To this end, Algeria has embarked on a policy of energy efficiency, drawing on international experience in the field. This has made a substantial contribution to combating the harmful impacts of energy over-consumption and promoting a transition in energy use. In this context, this research work consists in following a thermal and energy evaluation procedure, as well as the satisfaction of users who have benefited from the ECO-BAT program, through a comparative study of two case studies. These are the High Energy Performance (HPE) projects in Blida and Djelfa. The next step is to develop a new design variant optimized for energy consumption, by manipulating some of the parameters that make up the building envelope. Thus, the research developed in this work is composed of two main parts. The first is a subjective assessment of thermal comfort, using a questionnaire addressed to the occupants of the HPE Blida project. Secondly, an in-situ investigation itself, validated by a thermal simulation for the two case studies. The second part is devoted to a parametric study of the impact of certain elements of the envelope on the thermal and energy quality of the dwelling, using TRNSYS dynamic thermal simulation. Finally, the results of the evaluation showed a lack of thermal, energy and behavioral quality in the case studies, whereas the optimization proved satisfactory with regard to the results obtained concerning; operating temperature, energy consumption and PMV and PPD indices. This indicates that the adaptation of a design strategy, linked to the corresponding type of climate, while integrating an appropriate choice of thermal envelope elements, positively promotes the thermal and energetic quality of the interior space as much as the thermal needs of users.
