Abstract
This doctoral thesis explores the development and performance evaluation of bio-composite materials, specifically those reinforced with Date Palm Fibers (DPFs) and gypsum. The thesis investigates their potential as sustainable alternatives in engineering applications, particularly in construction and insulation. A systematic approach was employed to manufacture bio-composite materials (GF.s.m) with varying sizes (s: I-III) of Date Palm Fibers (DPFs) and mass ratios (m: 05-20%) for each size. The thesis comprehensively analyzes the mechanical, physical, thermal, chemical, and morphological properties of these bio-composite materials (GF.s.m). Key findings reveal an inverse relationship between the mass ratio of Date Palm Fibers (DPFs) and size, while highlighting the enhanced thermal insulation properties of Date Palm Fibers (DPFs). Statistical analysis and Multi-Objective Optimization (MOO) techniques are used to identify optimal bio-composite materials design solutions. Ultimately, the thesis contributes to the growing knowledge of knowledge on bio-composite material and demonstrates its potential for eco-friendly, high-performance applications in the construction and manufacturing industries.
