Abstract

This work is an investigation, in the field of welding carried out on weld beads of a gas tank made of structural steel called P265NB which is a low alloy steel with a low carbon percentage, its chemical composition (Wt.%) ) is: [C: 0.20, Si: 0.0079, Mn: 0.778, P: 0.0156, S: 0.058: Cr: 0.021, Al: 0.035, Cu: 0.012, Ni: 0.0075] dimensional side, it has a thickness of 3.3 mm , its manufacturing process is finalized by a normalization annealing heat treatment at a temperature of 920°C ± 10°C. This work aim to determine the optimization of the two welding parameters which are the electrical voltage (V) and the filler metal deposition speed (S) (mm/sec). This welding considered is that with a submerged arc welding (S.A.W). The principle of characterization taken into account consists of varying the electrical voltage (V) in the range [31÷36] volt and the filler metal deposition speed (S) which is between [28.01÷32.16] mm/sec. We conclude that these physical parameters directly influence the chemical composition of the structure, in particular the carbon content in the weld bead, structural components in particular ferrite and pearlite and its mechanical properties such as tensile strength (Rm) and micro-hardness (Hv0.3) of the steel in study. Therefore, the desired adjustment of the parameters under study turns out to be 31 volt of electrical voltage for 32.16 mm/sec as the filler metal deposition speed.
