Abstract

In offshore geotechnics, foundations are typically embedded in soils that are often nonhomogeneous, with cohesion increasing with depth. Offshore structures typically rely on shallow or semi-deep foundations, and the study of their foundations requires consideration of extreme external forces such as waves and wind. Bearing capacity is then evaluated by considering vertical V, horizontal H, and moment M loads. This thesis focuses on the elastoplastic analysis by finite difference method of the bearing capacity of circular and ring foundations. Parameters such as soil non-homogeneity, embedment of the foundation, and various types of interfaces were considered in different calculation phases. The results obtained were presented in the form of bearing capacity factors. Under combined loading and to represent the ultimate limit loads in the load parameter space, techniques such as "swipe" and "probe" were implemented. The results were presented in the form of interaction diagrams (failure envelopes). Analysis of the curves revealed a significant impact of the ratio between the inner radius and the outer radius of the ring (Ri/R0) on the shape of the failure envelope curves.
