Abstract
Attention to the problem of reflective writing has always been risen, thus different studies provided rubrics for its evaluation. However; these instruments are based on general qualitative criteria and do not attempt to quantify the depth of reflexivity. Moreover, little is known about the linguistic structure of reflexive writing since recent studies have examined its characteristics, yet did not correlate with levels of reflexivity depth. At the graduate level, the student reaches a consolidated cognitive level, a more accelerated way of thinking that needs to be supported. In this sense, we thought of adopting reflective practice, a pedagogical activity that promotes the action of the cognitive process, by exploiting reflective writing as a means of analyzing discourse and as a pedagogical tool that serves to generate a reflexive approach in the writing subject. Our study therefore aims to take the stock of the situation between reflexive writing (prescribed and evaluated) and discourse analysis in the context of foreign language teaching, while adopting a "portfolio" system for which first-year master's students in FLE didactics must carry out corpus interpretations. Our aim is to integrate the practice of discourse analysis into the didactics of French as a foreign language, a theory that meets the needs of current approaches (communicative and action-oriented) by incorporating oral discourse, as authentic documents, through reflective writing. The results of our study suggest that students apprehend that reflective writing can enhance communication between students and teachers, and attempt to point out a number of limitations to the scope of reflective writing when it is normatively inserted, controlled and evaluated. Reflective writing does, however, show significant value for the in-depth and critical use of activities carried out in the training.
